Botox injections are most often injected to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. However, it has proven to treat uncomfortable conditions, like excessive sweating; neck spasms and teeth grinding which often leads to pain in the TMJ muscle.
It is important to know that Botox doesn’t actually erase wrinkles. The active ingredient ‘freezes’ the muscle that prevents the line or wrinkle to deepen. It works out in about 3-4 months and would then have to be reapplied.
Now you are probably then wondering which age would be best to start with Botox treatments?
If your concern is not to get wrinkles (or just a reduced amount of wrinkles as such) in your 30’s onwards, we would suggest a person start in their mid 20’s as a form of preventative treatment so that the ‘line’ of a wrinkle never even forms.
The DONT’S after Botox:
- Do not rub or massage the treated area and avoid make-up if possible.
- Avoid sleeping on your face the first night.
- Do not exercise or partake in any strenuous activity for the next 12 hrs.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption for the next 24hrs.
